Comments: I, too, have a hamster, and his name is Rex. He is white with hints of gray in his fur. I'm not sure how long the claws of teddy bear hamsters are supposed to be, but each one of Rex's is about 2mm. long. When he crawls on me, he feels like a mini-tickler machine. Right now, it's about 7:30 p.m.; that's me 'n Rex's activity time. In activity time, Rex will run in his wheel while listening to me play my cornet (small trumpet), but now he's probably running or sleeping, because I had to leave my cornet at school in order to make it to the bus to home on time.

My ranking for this site is 7 out of 10, and it ranks 4th in my 7 wonders of the internet.

Comments: I thought Hermione's adventure was funny! My hamster Pashmina is sooo cute, just like Hermione. Maybe I could make a book of Pashmina's adventures one day. She was my first pet and now I have 12! I hope you will have some more hamster adventure stories. I loved reading about Scruffles, Piggles, Hermione, Pikachu, and Furby.

Comments: My daughter's hamster, Pashmina, had babies 4 days ago. I was so happy to find your site! The baby hamster journal has been a great help in making sure everything's going okay with the babies. She had 11! My daughter woke me up in the middle of the night, scared because some hamsters were "turning black!" Turns out that's exactly how they look at four days when their fur starts coming in. Of course, we've made some mistakes by handling the babies already. Pashmina seems to be handling it well though. What a relief to know that we don't have to separate her from her babies, which is what everyone has been telling us. What a great experience for both my daughter (9 yrs) and my son (11 yrs), whose hamster Rex is the daddy. We love our Hamhams!

Comments: I got my hammy yesterday, and I don't know if it's a boy or a girl. It is very scared. I am afraid to pick it up and check. How can I check? I think it's a girl. It's a little mean.

Comments: I decided I couldn't leave this site one more time without telling you how helpful it has been to me in the past week or so. Recently, I had just gotten a new hamster because I had wanted one for weeks. When I finally got her on the first day and left for work the next, I came home, and to my surprise, there was a cage full of miniature hamsters. To be exact, there were five hamsters. I was frantic for the first few hours, but after settling down for a while I decided to look up information online. it was then that I found your site and it's been a tremendous help for the past five days (my litter was born on December 28). I'm going to keep coming back to your site until I run out of questions. so for now I'd like to say thank you so much for sharing your story.

The proud hamster owner

P.S. I see that your name is Kathy ...my hamster's name is Cathy... guess that's a good sign :)

Comments: Being a fellow animal lover (we have 11 hamsters, and one hamster giving birth to a litter in a few days, 1 gerbil, 1 chinchilla, 1 rabbit, and 3 cats), I found your site to be really cool and enjoyed it so much. I sent the address to all my fellow animal lovers and showed it to my roommate too. I first bumped into it when I was looking for hamster pregnancy information, as one of my hamsters is pregnant, and I've never experienced a hamster pregnancy. I loved the FAQ section and am taking advice about the infant formula and veggies and fruit to feed my somewhat young mother-to-be. I learned a lot about hamsters from your site, so much that I think I will pass it along to those at the pet store who have apparently been misinforming customers about hamsters. I especially loved your gallery of all of your past and present hamsters - I'd like to do something like that to share my love of hammies, as we call them, with others. I was wondering if you could help me and tell me how you learned all of this webpage design and how I go about obtaining a site?

Comments: Hi, Kathy,
I just wanted to tell you how much I love your site. It's awesome and helpful to me. Now I know about all little critters. I got a teddy bear hamster a few weeks ago, and we named him teddy, because he is a teddy bear hamster. He is so soft, but I can't really hold on to him, 'cuz he is a fast little critter and I do not want to drop him. I got my hamster at Meijers, because I could not find anywhere else they would be sold at. He is a light tannish color. We got him a cage that is a playful cage, or whatever it's called, and he always sleeps in his ball. Well, he used to, but now he is getting used to the cage and is sleeping wherever he brings bedding and food up - in his ball and everywhere. It is so cute!

Comments: Hey, I think that you've got yourself a great and extremely helpful website. My female dwarf hamster just gave birth to four little ones yesterday, and I was frantically looking for some help as I did not expect her to be pregnant. I am now more confident in helping her through the gestation period, and I must say you've done a wonderful job. Keep up the good job. :)

Comments: I got a "boy" hamster for a Christmas present 2 days early. On Christmas day, "he" had babies. Your journal was wonderful way for us to have insight on what we were not "expecting" (pun intended). I am 11 years old and in 5th grade at the International School of Stavanger, Norway. We are expats from the U.S. on an assignment for 3-5 years here. My family and I enjoyed your journal. Thanks so much for posting it. It has helped us tremendously. Merry Christmas! Conner.

Comments: I have a hamster. My hamster had babies. My hamster got out, and 3 babies followed her. They dug under our sink, so we put food by the hole. First, my hamster came out, and then we got the babies. Now the babies are gone, so itís a happy ending.

Comments: Hi, I just wanted to say thank you for making the Journal of Hamster Babies. A friend of mine went on vacation and left me his little hamsters to take care of, and last night I discovered that they had babies. Today, I have spent most of the morning trying to find out what to do next, because I had never had hamsters, and I canít get a hold of my friend. Your journal has helped me a lot. Now, I don't feel so freaked out, and I know now what to expect in these next few weeks that I still have to take care of them.

Also, if you have anymore info I need to look up, links or books or whatever might be helpful to someone who has never had this happen before, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you again! <3

Comments: My hamster just had babies. I'm so excited, but I wish she would keep them together. They're separated all over the cage. Anyway got any tips? What should I use for the nest? I have wood bedding - will that hurt them? Can I use cotton? I'm so confused.

Comments: Thank you for sharing your wonderful story!! Our hamster that we got was pregnant when we got her and we didn't know. We have been happy parents of 10. After a week she did apparently eat 3, we are assuming they were the weak ones. The seven that remain are 14 days old today and cute as can be. Your story helped me so much. Thank you!!
